Before the Battle of Saratoga
Before the battle of Saratoga the American’s where struggling immensely in their attempt to break free from the British and become independent. America became discouraged after many failed battles. Although America did win some battles, the battle was still in favor of the British. When word had reached George Washington by letter that America had won the battle, he was in disbelief of this immaculate accomplishment and replied stating that if General Horatio Gates had not signed the letter he would not have believed it.
After the Battle of Saratoga
When America emerged victorious from this battle, it brought forth a change in the tides of the Revolutionary War. America was in desperate need of help from the French in their battle for independence. The Battle of Saratoga is fight finally convinced the French to join are side. As soon as the French heard of this victory they immediately sent supplies and forces to help the Americans. Not only did the American’s receive the much needed assistance of the French, but also installed a new idea of hope within the American’s that previously believed there was no chance in achieving Victory.
Lasting Effect
If we had not been successful in this battle, there may have never been a U.S.A. When we gained the allegiance of the French we actually won many battles, unlike previously. The United States Of America would then go on to influence many future events thus make the Battle of Saratoga one of the most influential turning points.
